2024 Golf Tournament

Our 4th Annual Golf Tournament was held Monday, October 7, 2024 at Falcon Lakes Golf Club — another scramble-format day of golf with a 9 a.m. sign-in and 10 a.m. shotgun start. For $225, golfers received green fees, a cart, driving range access, a box lunch on the course, and a taco bar with cash bar at the awards presentation, plus contests for Longest Drive, Closest to the Pin and Longest Putt. As always, proceeds went directly toward programs and necessities for Life Centers of Kansas clients.

2023 Golf Tournament

We held our 3rd Annual Golf Tournament at Prairie Highlands Golf Course. The weather was great, if a bit hot for early October. We had 21 teams and lots of silent auction items—lunch provided by Firehouse Subs and after-golf snacks from the Tiki Taco Truck. We netted over $30,000 for LCKS clients.

We started new entertainment opportunities for LCKS Day Service clients, funding Father John for monthly performances and Mr. Stinky Feet for quarterly performances.

Acts of Kindness

2020 was hard on everyone, and our residents had been sheltering in place for months. They were thrilled to learn they'd be having a concert — thanks so much to the Church of the Resurrection Leawood handbell choir for performing for our residents. They loved it!

Year in Review December 17, 2019

Highlights of 2019

A year of milestones: our first annual golf tournament sold out and netted over $24,000; our food pantry provided over 2.7 tons of food to Life Centers group homes; our new Recreation Committee ran a pool party, a hayride, and a Christmas at Resurrection outing for every resident; the Client Need Fund Committee launched to support clients without family assistance; and Angel Tree 2019 provided Christmas gifts to over 40 residential clients through a partnership with the Melange Ballroom.



We also welcomed a $3,000 gift from Associated Wholesale Grocers for client needs, continued quarterly staff recognition gifts, and began working with Families for KanCare Reform to advocate at the state level.

The impact of the government shutdown on our residents

When a federal shutdown threatened food stamp allocations, our newly opened food pantry (established in November 2018) worked to ensure our most vulnerable residents never experienced a food shortage, offsetting rising grocery costs so house managers could keep purchasing fresh produce and quality meats for the families we serve.
